Huayan Monastery
A Liao-dynasty monastery facing east, with a sutra library of painted clay bodhisattvas.
The lower monastery's Bhagavat Sutra Hall, from 1038, has the figures; the upper monastery's great hall is one of the largest Liao buildings left. The rebuilt parts are obvious and the old parts are extraordinary.
