Check when the Ice and Snow World actually opens before you book flights

The opening date moves each year with the ice on the river, usually late December, and the park runs into February. Tickets are timed and online, and weekends and the New Year week sell out.

Go at dusk so you see it in daylight and lit, buy the ticket a few days ahead, and reckon on two or three hours before the cold wins. The slides are the best part and the queues for them are outdoors, which is the whole argument for the warm boots.
