Bīngxuě Dàshìjiè

A city of ice palaces cut from the river, lit from inside. Late December to February.

Reservation needed

Timed tickets online; weekends and the New Year week sell out. Check the opening date, which depends on the ice.

Arrive at about three for daylight, stay for the lights at dusk, leave when you can no longer feel your face. Slides, towers, whole cathedrals of ice. The rest of the year the site is empty.
