Fortified towers built by returned emigrants among the rice fields, two hours west.
Nearly two thousand tower houses, a mix of Chinese village and whatever style the owner saw abroad. Zili village and Jinjiangli are the ones to see. Bus from Guangzhou to Kaiping then taxi, or an arranged car for the day.
