Book the Hubei museum for the bells, and not on a Monday

Panda · China · 6 Sept 2026

The bronze bell set of Marquis Yi is 2,400 years old, five metres of it, and still in tune. Entry is free but you need a real-name reservation on the museum's official account with your passport, and the museum closes on Mondays.

Book a morning slot a day or two ahead, allow two hours, and check whether a chime performance is scheduled while you are there — it is worth planning the visit around. East Lake and its cycle paths start just outside, if you want to make an afternoon of it.
