Qinghai Lake
A blue inland sea at 3,200 metres, ringed by grassland and rapeseed in July. A long day or an overnight.
Two and a half hours by car to the south shore at Erlangjian, the main scenic area. Better: hire a car for two days, sleep in a Tibetan guesthouse at Heimahe, and see the sunrise. Cyclists circle the lake in three or four days.
