A blue-tiled hall at the top of 392 steps, with the city below. Free, but book.

Free, real-name booking on the official account; closed Mondays.

Built in 1929 up the south slope of Purple Mountain. Go early, climb slowly, and take the tree-lined path west to the Ming tomb afterwards rather than the shuttle.
