Sleep in the Yulong valley, and keep West Street to one drink

Yangshuo town has the buses, the bars and the tour groups. Ten minutes away, the villages along the Yulong River have guesthouses with peaks outside the window and nothing to do after dark, which is the point.

Jiuxian, Chaolong and the lanes off the river road are the ones to look at. Most guesthouses lend bicycles, do dinner if you ask by the afternoon, and will fetch you from the station. Book early in spring and autumn; the good ones are small.
