GEC English Corner — Tianhe

One of three free weekly English corners run across Guangzhou by the volunteer group GEC (GEC外语社团). This is the Friday one, in Tianhe.

The shape of the evening: everyone gathers at the metro exit around 19:30 and introduces themselves, then splits into small groups and works through a topic the organisers have picked for the week. Free. Volunteers at the meeting point sell the group's badge if you want one, but you do not need it to join.

Almost everyone there is Chinese and practising their English, so a native speaker turning up is a small event in itself — expect to be talked to.
