A small themed English discussion evening in Jing'an, hosted by an American couple who live in Shanghai — David Vreeland, a nuclear engineer, and Gloria Vreeland, a doctor at Shanghai United Family Hospital. Each week has one announced topic and a list of questions to work through; recent ones have ranged from career plans to films.

Fifteen people maximum, and a ¥15 room fee. Most of the room will be Chinese speakers practising English, so as a native speaker you will be very welcome — and useful.

Book ahead through the Douban event page; walk-ins are not really a thing at this size.
