Hakka earthen roundhouses in the hills, three hours inland. Better with a night.
Tianluokeng and Yunshuiyao in Nanjing county are the closest clusters; Chuxi and Hongkeng in Yongding are quieter. Some families rent rooms inside the buildings. Day tours run from Xiamen; a car and a night is much better.
