Yumen Pass
A Han-dynasty fort and stretches of the oldest Great Wall in the Gobi, 90 kilometres west.
The Jade Gate through which caravans left China. A square of rammed earth in an empty plain, with the Han wall of reeds and gravel a few kilometres on. Combine with the Yadan park in one long day by hired car.
