Under the wave roof of the Civic Center, in the block at the eastern end. The galleries run from the salt and oyster trades of the old coast through the Opium Wars and the drawing of the Hong Kong border to 1980; the reform-era rooms — the first land contract, the first share certificates, photographs of Shekou as a building site — are the part to slow down for. Free, no booking, closed Mondays, 10:00–18:00 with last entry at 17:30.
