Longji Rice Terraces

Longji is a group of villages rather than a single sight: Ping'an is the easiest to reach, Dazhai and Tiantou sit higher with longer walks between viewpoints. Paths are steep stone steps, so wear proper shoes. A night in a village guesthouse is far better than a rushed day trip: the terraces are at their best in early light. The fields are flooded in spring and turn gold before the harvest in autumn. Check ticket prices and bus times with the scenic area before you go.
